Pulling directly the knot may put too much pressure on the shape of your tie, and its seams. This is a greater risk for wool or cashmere ties that may loosen up.
Make sure to store your linen, cotton or wool ties on a hanger, they will keep their shape and the wrinkles will fade away naturally. For your silk ties, we would rather recommend rolling them as silk is a fabric that is more sensible to gravity.

For your knitted ties and bow ties, avoid at all cost to wash them is the washing machine, the knit won't be able to stand it. Bring your accessories to your dry cleaner on how you could wash them.
